I once read the sad are healers
Taking upon them the weight of the world
The first to offer a shoulder to cry on
The last to give up on those they love
No matter how hard love is to accept
They search and strive to let it in
Attached they become with slight energy spent
Plowed over when rejection is shown
Can’t help their tender hearts are exposed –
So fiercely to the elements
No shelter from the mighty blows
Life’s devastation instigates
Be patient with their changing tides
Sometimes their hearts they do protect
A block of ice attempts to kill
What a special someone can revive
Ticking beating, pulsing through
Painstaking melt, chipping away
Through thorny vines of selfish doubt
Our minds tell the most vicious lies
We need your strength to remind
That though we are misunderstood
We have strength buried under pain
It needs your love to bloom
I love your poetry. You’re extremely talented, sweetheart. God bless you.
