The far side of my dreams
Shows a woman reconciled
Her former self acknowledged
Her present self-preserved
Each moment of inner clarity
Used as sustainability
Each moment of doubt and hopelessness
Discarded along with the other nonsense
She’s not the me sometimes in nightmares
Giving into all of her fears
Fighting against an invisible foe
That screams within her ears
She’s not the one that eats her love
Then rejects it like a bad transplant
She’s not the one that feels incapable
Of meeting all of her demands
She’s not the one that feels unwanted
Questioning everyone’s true motives
She’s not the one that cries in silence
Mourning the latest inner betrayal
She worked through years of tedium
And falling flat upon her face
Picking herself up from the dust
Being reborn over and again
Rising out of the ashes
To become the woman I will be
On the far side of my dreams
