Down the Hatch

Each moment not distracted
Tears have an open invitation

To feel others grief and pain
To contemplate my own

To think about relations lost
To mourn the loss of childhood homes

To feel the void from those who’ve passed
To miss the ones still living

To hold a grudge for those who hide
To accept grace from the giving

To feel the pressure to perform;
Climb out of these four walls

To process guilt from the unchanged;
Ignore the sirens calls

The pressure builds, the tears release
I make it through this patch

Knowing life is beautiful
I’ll drink it down the hatch
