There’s a lesson
I’ve been resistant
to learning,
thoughts turned
to burdens
new and old
Do I overreact
not show enough mercy
could I learn new patience
let time unfold
The depths inside
each living soul
Be brave
face distance
blistering cold
Scale walls
break fences
patch the holes
Upon the ground
and in my bones
Reach summits
previously unknown;
Time only tells
I steam along
Reality faces
me head-on
I’ve no reserves
to build upon
Love, one day here
the next day gone
Can’t find your heart
my only one
Walls built
around are
much too strong
My lesson
slowly, harshly
learned
My heart
too often
fully burned
Won’t wait for
you to come around
My love once lost
is never found.

Are you okay with this being shared? It is very touching and it so well expressed where I sense you are… And the growth you’re experiencing. You are so beautiful, and so is your poetry.
